Rajdeep S. Deol*

Rajdeep was born in Nairobi, Kenya. He moved to England when he was 16. He obtained his Bachelor of Law Degree with Honours from the London School of Economics (LSE) in 1989.

Rajdeep articled and subsequently worked with a London boutique firm and worked on some significant commercial litigation cases as a litigation solicitor (one such case involved representing a former Soviet republic and travelling to Geneva, Switzerland for a week long arbitration).

Rajdeep moved to Vancouver in 1996 and re-did his articles with a large national law firm in downtown Vancouver. Having been called to the BC Bar in 1998, Rajdeep became an associate with the same firm and worked on complex commercial litigation matters, including as junior counsel in the significant litigation involving Vancouver College.

In 2003, Rajdeep decided to move his practice to Surrey to better serve members of his community, some of whom needed advice in Punjabi. He also wished to work with owners of businesses in and around Surrey.

He spent ten years with a firm in Surrey primarily doing real estate, commercial and construction litigation. In 2014, Rajdeep was a founding partner, with his colleague, Jason Sandhu, of a law firm where he continued to practice before opening his own firm of Deol Lawyers in 2017.

Rajdeep’s main areas of practice are in the litigation aspects of real estate, commercial, corporate, insurance, foreclosure and construction. He has experience at Provincial, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal levels. He has appeared on a variety of interlocutory, trial, and appeal matters, as well as at mediations and arbitrations. Rajdeep has been lead counsel on lengthy commercial litigation trials in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, one of which lasted fifty (50) days, as well as at summary trial applications, and on various applications for interlocutory relief.

In his free time, Rajdeep enjoys reading James Patterson novels, playing golf and tennis, occasionally defeating his nephews and daughter at video games, and watching sports live and on TV. He also volunteers his time for religious organizations.
