Doug is the head of the Dispute Resolution & Litigation Group and a member of the Executive Committee at McQuarrie.
Doug provides representation, advocacy, and litigation consulting services for individuals and established companies, both local and international, including a diverse range of professionals, business owners, landowners, developers, contractors, material suppliers, directors, and shareholders in a diverse range of industries, including mining, land development, manufacturing, professional services, leasing, and construction.
Doug also has a significant practice in the niche area of expropriation law and has represented a wide range of owners dealing with various expropriating authorities, from single owners of residential family homes to companies with ownership of real property valued at over one billion dollars.
Doug’s core legal experience and expertise relate to expropriation claims, real estate disputes, equitable interests in real property, commercial leases, and lien and trust issues pursuant to the Builders Lien Act.
Doug enjoys analyzing and strategically resolving complex and intellectually challenging issues in a pragmatic and efficient manner and has successfully represented clients at mediations, arbitrations, and in Court at the B.C. Supreme Court, B.C. Court of Appeal, Federal Court, and the Tax Court of Canada.
