Dear valued clients and business partners:

As the global situation with COVID-19 continues to unfold we want to assure you that we at McQuarrie are taking increased safety measures and precautions to protect our clients, employees, and the community.

At McQuarrie, we understand the importance of our role as your trusted advisor. We believe that trust is the foundation of every good client-lawyer relationship and we value the trust that our clients place in our firm. Our lawyers work hard to earn that trust by responding to the needs of our clients with careful preparation, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver proactive and practical solutions to get you results. Our office remains open and we continue to stand at the ready to serve and advise you in these difficult times.

In order to ensure we maintain the highest levels of service, we have tested the firm’s remote work systems and capabilities and will continue to do so periodically over the course of these increased safety measures. This means that we are prepared to serve you remotely by telephone, email, and video conference so that you can continue to receive excellent legal services without having to attend our offices in most cases.

We appreciate your patience while we continue to address the effects of COVID-19 in this environment of fast-moving change. Our commitment to you is a top priority. We encourage you to reach out to our lawyers directly by email or on their direct lines. For more information on contacting each of our lawyers, please see our website: www.mquarrie.com/our-team/.

To minimize the risk of exposure in our office, we are taking action consistent with input from government and health authorities to ensure the creation and enforcement of internal policies designed to protect our McQuarrie team and you, our valued clients. Of course, these policies are subject to change given the ever-changing environment.  Some of the proactive measures we are taking include:

  • Following governmental and health authority recommendations on self-isolation after travel or exposure;
  • Cancellation of all catered lunches and group meetings in excess of 10 people (to ensure recommended social distancing);
  • Conducting as many meetings as possible via Facetime, Skype or Videoconference.
  • Eliminating all items in the office that could increase risk of transmission including magazines and newspapers.
  • Increased daily sanitization throughout the office and in high traffic areas.
  • Regular reminders on preventative measures and proper hygiene.

The health and safety of our clients, business partners, colleagues, their families, and our communities are the highest priority. We will continue to act prudently to minimize disruptions to workflows as we encourage everyone to follow preventative measures recommended by Health Canada to stay healthy and help slow the spread of the virus.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your lawyer – we are here to help.

Sincerely,

McQuarrie Hunter LLP
